Social media is so much amazing than you think.
On the Instagram, there’s a lovely account of Hsia’s granddaughter (@dk_1218). She has been starting recording the daily life of her Alzheimer grandpa by the footage. At the beginning, she just wants to record every moment with her grandparents. However, her grandparents are so cute, so it does attract so many people on the internet to follow her account. More than that, the videos even spread out all over the world.
Due to the war, Hsia came from China alone without any family. He thought his family, parents and brother all died during the war. Now, he is already 90 years old. He has a lovely and happy wife. They love each so much. Sometimes they have a little argument like children, sometimes they hold each other’s hands and talking about love. Although Hsia has Alzheimer, he never forgets any love of his family.
You never know how powerful social media is.
One day, granddaughter got a message said,’’ Does your grandpa’s full name is…..? There’s one guy in China who accidently watched your video and found out that your grandpa is so much alike his grandpa!!!!’’ After she confirmed with grandpa, she was freaking out and so excited. She couldn’t imagine that this miracle would happen in real and not even mention is on her family.
Thanks to social media.
They might be too old to take the airplane to get reunion, but they still have chance to see each other’s face by facetime or Line or Wechat… whatever Apps. More than that, after 80 years, they can still find out that their family still alive in the corner of the big world.
Although I am just a follower, I could never know how excited they are, I am so touched by this story. Thank you, social media, you make everything possible.
